Slight delay,,,but still on track

We 're here and ready, but the operating room isn't ready for us. There is an emergency heart transplant taking place right now, so Brent is on standby for a couple of hours. We are happy for the recipient, but it makes for a anxious, long morning of waiting. Thanks again for checking on Brent, and I will update again as soon as I have some more information. donna

Hi All, just a short note to let you know, that I am all ready to Rock! All systems GO, and I really appreciate all the kind phone-calls and good energy you are sending my way. My Sister, Donna and Dad, Don are both here by my side and My Mom, Jo is sending her good vibes from the East Coast. Donna will be updating this site as she finds time. Thank you for all your support, brent
An Exercise in Longevity…
Saturday, February 20, 2010
I have some news that's really not kayak related. Well, actually, maybe it is, as it's been the key ingredient in why I have not taken a starting line in over a year. As I watch the Winter Olympics, (which as I LOVE!), I'm counting down the few days until a key event in my life. On 2/24/10, I will be going into Stanford Hospital to have open-heart surgery. I will have an operation to deal with an Aorta that's simply not behaving. I am very confident in the ability of my surgeon Dr Scott Mitchell, who's goal, by his own unsolicited words, were "Brent I want to get you back On The Water as soon as I can"...that's the guy I want doing my work! I really believe he's going to succeed.
By now, many of my friends have found out about the surgery and have been sending me all kinds of good-wishes. I can't thank you ALL enough, nor can I express how great you make me feel. Good Vibes are Healing Vibes, and I'll not be bashful about taking as many as I can get! Thanks again.
I hope to keep this website updated with my progress. We'll see how that goes. Of course the recovery will be a long one. My Cardiologist, Dr David Liang has told me to plan on 3-Months, but both he and I hope it to be sooner. I'm hoping to be back to some level of normal-life in Two!
Consequently, and with great regret, I've had to cancel my Canoecopia and Rutabaga teaching stints in Wisconsin this summer. However sometime after Mid June - or First of July, I'm expecting to be ready, (and Chomping At the Bit), to get out there teaching again! Stay in touch if you'd like to get into a class Mid-Summer, as I'm definitely going to be ready to go!
Okay, that's it for now. Thanks again for all the great energy, brent
All the best!
